The School of Education boasts 13 majors to choose from, including 11 teacher certification programs and 2 non-certification programs in health and exercise science, and selected studies in education. Whether you are looking to pursue a career as a teacher, school counselor, physical therapist, or anything else within the world of education and health and wellness, the School of Education will prepare you to inspire people, promote physical activity, and impact policy.

New SOE Leadership Scholarship Announced for 2018!

The School of Education seeks high-achieving, motivated, and passionate student leaders to join our community. All first-year applicants who apply to any SOE program by January 1, 2018 are automatically considered for the SOE Leadership Scholarship. Recipients receive:

  • $28k scholarship, renewable for 4 years
  • Priority admissions consideration for the Renee Crown Honors Program
  • Priority consideration for study abroad sponsorship from the Himan Brown fund
  • Priority reservation in an SOE-sponsored residential learning community
  • Involvement and mentorship within the Kappa Delta Pi international honors society
  • Additional mentorship opportunities with faculty and alumni
  • Priority admissions consideration for SOE master's degree, with 25% tuition discount
  • Additional major-specific opportunities, such as:
    • Funding toward one NY State teacher certification exam (teacher-preparation majors)
    • Funding support toward conference opportunities (selected studies and health and exercise science majors)

Visit Us!

A visit to campus is the best way to experience SU and the School of Education!  Whether it is through one of our open house-style Orange Preview events, a regular weekday visit, or a Syracuse Saturday, we encourage all prospective and admitted students to visit!  You can find a schedule of events on the SU Office of Admissions webpage, and we recommend registering early to ensure space.

The information session and campus tour is a great way to get an overview of Syracuse University, however we encourage all students to also visit us in the School of Education to learn more about their specific program of interest. The Syracuse University Office of Admissions provides additional information about the application process.

The application deadlines are:

  • Early Decision Deadline: November 15
  • Regular Decision Deadline: January 1
  • Admissions Notification: Mid-March
  • Candidates must reply by May 1

Transfer student applications can be submitted between November 15th, 2017 and July 1st, 2018 for both Spring and Fall Admissions, however admission is dependent on space availability. Please visit the Transfer Requirements page from the SU Office of Admissions for more information.
