Get Involved and Engage

We are looking for SOE alumni, families, and friends to further our mission of providing students with an unparalleled experience while supporting our faculty excellence in scholarship and research.

Connect with Our Students

Our Orange Network is one of our keys to success. Connecting with a student or young alumni to create a
mentor/mentee relationship was benefits both parties. If you are interested in connecting with a student or sharing job opportunities, please contact soecareer@syr.edu.

We are also always looking for teachers, education leaders, counselors, higher education professionals, and people in other fields to host field placement and internship experiences. If you are interested, contact Tom Bill, Director of Field Placements, at thbull@syr.edu.

Promote SOE to Your Network

We are always looking for the best and brightest students and the most brilliant and inspiring faculty. If you know someone in your network that is interested in joining us as a student, please have them reach out to SOEadmissions@syr.edu. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming an instructor, reach out to Jessica Puccia at jlpuccia@syr.edu.

Attend an Event

The School of Education hosts a number of Zoom and in-person events for our alumni, families and friends to attend. If you are interested in attending a future event, please contact Jessica Puccia at jlpuccia@syr.edu to be added to our mailing list and be notified about future events.

Host an Event

We are always looking for alumni, families, and friends to host an event in their region to engage other School of Education community members. These can be small, salonlike events that are hosted in your home and are designed for a smaller crowd. They can be centered around an academic theme, an admissions theme, or even a fun theme (i.e., a Halloween party!) If you are interested in hosting a
School of Education event at your location, contact email Jessica Puccia at jlpuccia@syr.edu with your ideas.

Become an SOE Volunteer Leader

We rely on our alumni and friends to provide voluntee leadership so we can better engage external constituencies and build our capacity and reputation. We ask our volunteer leaders to commit talent by leveraging their areas of expertise to help us further our mission. We ask our volunteer leaders to commit treasure by making SOE a top philanthropic priority annually and by contributing a personally meaningful gift (often pledged out over several years) in addition to their annual contribution.

Other volunteer opportunities include board service, committee service and club membership. As they come on board, we ask volunteers to meet with School and University leadership to learn about how we work. If you would like more information on any of these opportunities, please contact Torin Washington at tjwashin@syr.edu or 315.412.8512.
