International Partnerships

The School of Education partners with international colleges, universities, and other institutions around the world. These partnerships provide opportunities for collaboration on research and scholarly work, student and faculty exchange including through Syracuse Abroad, student mentoring across cultures and disciplines, and hosting international events, conferences, and workshops.

Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program for International Teachers

Fulbright DAI teachers and Joanna Masingila after their cultural presentations to the School of EducationThe School of Education hosted 18 teachers from 9 countries through the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program for International Teachers in Spring 2019. These teachers participated in classroom placements across Central New York, and collaborated as a professional learning community on inquiry projects to develop materials, workshops or other resources to meet an educational need in their home country.

‘Cuse in Kenya

The Schools of Education at Syracuse University and Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya, have partnered on research projects, doctoral student mentoring, and hosting international conferences since 2000. Dozens of Kenyatta University students have gone on to receive a graduate degree from the School of Education.

U S AID and H E D logo

From 2011 to 2014, this partnership was awarded a $1.1M grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Higher Education for Development (HED) through the Africa-U.S. Higher Education Initiative to build capacity in teacher education. This project resulted in many workshops, curricular revisions, and six research projects that results in multiple publications in research journals.
