Disability Studies, CAS

Program Requirements

The Disability Studies CAS requires 15 graduate credits. Each student develops a personalized program of study in consultation with their advisor. It can be completed as a full-time student in two semesters, or taken part-time for students who are also working full time or in another graduate program at Syracuse.

All courses must be taken at Syracuse University (no transfer credits are allowed), and at least 9 credits (3 courses) must be courses with the DSP prefix. Students will also complete a culminating CAS exam in their final semester of coursework.

Coursework areas may include:

  • Representations of Ability and Dis/ability
  • Disability Law and Policy
  • Gender, Sexuality, and Disability
  • D/deafness and Dis/ability
  • Universal Design and Critical Access Studies
