Admissions Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0
Official transcript of all undergraduate and graduate study
A personal essay describing the candidate’s beliefs about music teaching, student learning, commitment to diversity, enthusiasm for learning, willingness to foster collaboration, and ethics
Letters of recommendation from professors and/or employers
Interview recommended
Resume or CV
GRE not required (optional)
No audition is required
For Preparation program:
Bachelor’s degree in music from an institution accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music
No existing teacher certification in music
For Professional programs:
NYS initial certification in Music (all grades)
