Mathematics Education (Grades 7-12), M.S.

The master’s degree in Mathematics Education (Grades 7-12, Preparation) prepares graduates to foster a love of mathematics in their students, through an engaging curriculum and instruction that adapts to the needs of all learners.

FULL tuition scholarships + living expenses for diverse future teachers in this and other select master’s programs through the Baldanza Fellows Program.

Master's students smile at graduationThis program provides deep exploration into mathematics education theory and practice, content instruction, culturally relevant pedagogy, integration of media and technology in the classroom, and standards-based assessments. This program aligns with the professional standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and meets the academic requirements for initial and professional New York State teacher certification in Mathematics (grades 7-12).

Why Mathematics Education at Syracuse University?

  • Each semester centers on an intensive field placement in a middle or high school setting to provide rich teaching experience with youth from diverse backgrounds.
  • Take part in School of Education short-term study abroad trips or semester-long programs around the world. School of Education students are also eligible for exclusive funding to support study abroad experiences.

  • Mathematics teachers
  • Teacher leaders, department chairs, or school administrators
  • Mathematicians, statisticians, or actuaries
  • Further studies in Mathematics Education, Educational Leadership, Public Administration, or another area of interest.
