The Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) has awarded Syracuse University School of Education Instructional Design, Development, and Evaluation doctoral student Hemalathaa K. Yuvaraja the highly competitive Phillip Harris Transformational Leadership Development Early Career Award for 2024.
The Phil Harris Awards, as they are known, promote and encourage diversity among the next generation of emerging leaders in instructional and educational technology, through experiences focused on educational technology policy, leadership skill-building, and cultural competence.
The conference-based awards also allow early career professionals to train in non-profit issues, and they offer opportunities to participate in AECT leadership activities.
“By receiving the prestigious and very competitive Phil Harris Award, Hema will have an opportunity to interact with a variety of AECT leaders at this year’s international conference and develop a greater network among instructional design researchers and scholars,” says Professor Tiffany A. Koszalka. “She will be a great representative for the School of Education’s IDDE program!”
AECT is a professional association of instructional designers, educators, and professionals who provide leadership and advise policy makers in order to sustain a continuous effort to enrich teaching and learning.
