School of Education Alumni Take on New Leadership Roles

Riley-Tillman Named WSU Provost and Executive Vice President

Chris Riley-Tillman headshotT. Chris Riley-Tillman G’96, G’99 has joined Washington State University as Provost and Executive Vice President. Before joining WSU, Riley-Tillman was Dean of the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Missouri, where he served as Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness; held the Joanne H. Hook Dean’s Chair in Educational Renewal; and was a Professor in the Department of Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology.

As a counseling professional, Riley-Tillman is a co-developer of Direct Behavior Ratings and a recognized authority in evidence-based practice in schools and the application of experimental design and analysis in applied educational settings.

Riley-Tillman is a senior advisor for the National Center on Intensive Intervention and creator and lead developer of the Evidence Based Intervention Network, a nonprofit website that contains free evidence-based intervention and assessment resources for educational professionals developed by researchers.

Holding a master’s degree in psychology and a Ph.D. in School Psychology from Syracuse University, Riley-Tillman has published more than 80 journal articles and six books.

Toman to Lead Peru State College School of Professional Studies

Gina Toman headshotGina Toman G’88 has been named Dean of the School of Professional Studies at Peru State College in Nebraska. She began her appointment on July 1, moving from her previous appointment at Clarkson College, where she served as Director of Healthcare Education and Clarkson’s Leadership Doctoral Program.

Before joining Clarkson College, Toman worked at the University of Nebraska at Omaha for more than 10 years. She served as Assistant to the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; as a Faculty Human Resources Officer, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures; and as the Assistant Dean of the College of Public Affairs and Community Service.

Toman also has been Dean of Students at Nebraska Methodist College and worked as an adjunct faculty member at Creighton University and the College of St. Mary. Her community and institutional involvement including chairing the Board of Directors for the Women’s Center for Advancement in Greater Omaha.

Toman holds a bachelor’s degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University, a master’s in Higher Education from Syracuse University, a Certificate of Advanced Study in Higher Education from the University of Maine, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration and Leadership from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
