School of Education Faculty, Alumni, and Students Honored

School of Education faculty, alumni, and students have recently been honored with numerous awards, honors, and national appointments:

Marcelle Haddix has been appointed Dean’s Associate Professor in recognition of her scholarly accomplishments and professional leadership. This title will become Dean’s Professor upon promotion to professor.

Barbara Applebaum, associate professor of Cultural Foundations of Education, has been named president elect of the Philosophy of Education Society.

Kelsey John, a first-year PhD student in Cultural Foundations of Education, received a graduate research fellowship from the National Science Foundation.

Melissa Luke, associate professor and coordinator of the School Counseling program, has been elected to the position of President-Elect of the North Atlantic Region of Counselor Education and Supervision. During the three year commitment of the presidential role, Dr. Luke will be contributing to the regional leadership as well as serving for two years on the national ACES executive board.

Melissa Luke and Kristopher M. Goodrich G’09 have been awarded the 2013 Best Research Article of the Year from the Association for Specialists in Group Work for the article “Investigating the LGBTQ Responsive Model of Group Supervision.”
