Classroom Improvements in Huntington Hall Enrich Instruction

The Syracuse University School of Education is pleased to announce new technology improvements to classrooms in Huntington Hall.

“Our latest round of technology upgrades in the Huntington Hall classrooms create a more interactive classroom that will hopefully better engage students and enrich the content being shared,” said Paula Maxwell, School of Education IT director.

Board of Visitors members Frank R. Comfort ’67 and Cerri Banks ’00, G’04, CAS ’05, Ph.D. ’06 gave to support the classroom upgrades. Comfort’s gift was in honor of his mother, Frances Meck Comfort ’40, and Banks gave in honor of her grandmother, Ethel Loveless. As a result of these gifts, the following upgrades have been made to classrooms in Huntington Hall.

The major improvements include a Wacom tablet annotation monitor in Huntington 101 and 103, which allows for drawing diagrams, annotating slides, videos, and live displays, and correcting documents. These two rooms also received ADA compliant teaching stations and a pan, tilt, zoom (PTZ) camera and ceiling microphone, which will be useful for Skype and lecture capture.

In total, Huntington 101 and 103 received a new Christie LWU421 HD data projector, new Extron IN1606 HD switcher, new amplifier, HDMI laptop port at the input panel, Extron Touch link control system, Wacom tablet annotation monitor, rear wall mounted PTZ camera that is connected to the Vaddio AV bridge, ceiling microphone that is connected to the Vaddio AV bridge, Vaddio AV bridge connected to the local PC, allowing local users to have room audio and video on the local PC, and a new ADA teaching station. Additionally, Huntington 101 received a new screen.

Huntington 100 and 106 received a new Christie LWU421 HD data projector, new Extron IN1606 HD switcher, new amplifier, HDMI laptop port at the input panel, and MLC 226IP controller mounted in a dog house on top of the teaching station.

The remaining two classrooms on the main floor of Huntington Hall will receive technology upgrades in the near future.
