Rockwood Leadership Institute (RLI) of Oakland, CA, has selected Syracuse University School of Education counseling program doctoral student Rahsaan DeLain as a 2023 John R. Oishei Foundation Karen Lee Spaulding Oishei Leaders of Color Fellow.
RLI provides personal leadership development for nonprofits and social change-makers and has trained more than 7,000 leaders since 2000. RLI’s trainings include The Art of Leadership, The Art of Leadership for Philanthropic Leaders, The Art of Leadership for Women in Racial Justice and Human Rights, and Building Capacity for Organizational Resilience and Renewal.
The Karen Lee Spaulding Oishei Fellowship for Leaders of Color is intended to transform, support, and attract the most inspired leaders of color in the Buffalo-Niagara region.
In Western New York, DeLain works among community health care, mental health, and substance abuse systems; jails and prisons; and higher education. He is Project Coordinator of Health Equity, Community Health Center of Buffalo, NY, a Federally Qualified Health Center, and Executive Director of COPE WNY, a not-for-profit that connects the Community Health Center of Buffalo, Community Action Organization of WNY, and Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers, integrating healthcare with community-based services.
