Inclusive Special Education (Grades 1-6), M.S.

Suggested Admissions Deadline: January 15 (summer semester start). Applications are considered on a rolling basis outside of this deadline.

While a summer start is highly recommended, students can also apply to start in the spring (deadline: October 1) or fall (deadline: January 15) semesters.

Admissions Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• Official transcript of all undergraduate and graduate study
• A personal essay describing the candidate’s beliefs about student learning, commitment to diversity, enthusiasm for learning, willingness to foster collaboration and ethics
• 3 letters of recommendation from professors and/or employers
• Resume or CV
• GRE not required (optional)
• An earned or expected to be earned NYS initial certification in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6)

Financial Support

• 50% tuition scholarships for ALL master’s students who start by spring 2025! Affordably advance your career and impact the lives of others through new scholarship opportunities.
• The Baldanza Fellows Program provides full tuition scholarships and living expense stipends for diverse future teachers for this and other select teaching master’s degree programs.
• Project IMPRESS aims to recruit, prepare, and retain culturally and linguistically diverse future special educators to work in high-needs settings. The program provides up to 100% tuition scholarships in a supportive cohort experience.

• Additional scholarships through the Burgoyne-Burt Scholarship Fund are also available for a limited number of students! All program applicants will be considered.

• School of Education Endowed Scholarships, including the Emily Angeline Scholarship, the Roland & Barbara Cook Scholarship, and the Marshall M. Gelfand Special Education Scholarship.
