Early Childhood Special Education (Birth-Grade 2), M.S.

Suggested Admissions Deadline: January 15 (summer semester start). Applications are considered on a rolling basis outside of this deadline.

Admissions Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0
  • Official transcript of all undergraduate and graduate study
  • A personal essay describing the candidate’s beliefs about student learning, commitment to diversity, enthusiasm for learning, willingness to foster collaboration, and ethics
  • Prior experiences working with children
  • 3 Letters of recommendation from professors and/or employers
  • Resume or CV
  • GRE not required (optional)
  • Applicants with or without NYS teacher certification may apply; however, applicants must have NO existing Students with Disabilities (Birth-Grade 2) certification.

Financial Support

  • 50% tuition scholarships for ALL master’s students who start by spring 2025! Affordably advance your career and impact the lives of others through new scholarship opportunities
  • In addition to the 50% tuition scholarship, scholarships through the Burgoyne-Burt Scholarship Fund also are available. All program applicants will be considered.
  • Federal Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH Grant) provides grants to students who intend to teach in an elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families.
  • Paid Teaching Assistant and Aide positions are available for students in many of our partner community agencies, schools, and preschool programs.
