Cultural Foundations of Education, Ph.D.

Admissions Deadline: December 1 (for fall semester start). Applicants should ensure that all of the required materials are submitted by that date.

Applications for this doctoral program will open on October 15.

Admissions Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree is preferred
  • Official transcript of all undergraduate and graduate study
  • Personal statement (read closely and plays a significant role in acceptance)
  • Professional or academic writing sample
  • Resume/CV
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Interview recommended
  • GRE is optional (not required)
  • International students: TOEFL scores (waived with at least one year of school in the US)

Because of the unique courses involved in the program, students coming into the PhD program directly from their undergraduate program cannot transfer credits and will increase their time to completion. Therefore, an existing master’s degree (or admission to the CFE Master’s program is preferred. Students without a Master’s degree may be considered with strong GRE scores, undergraduate GPA, recommendations from professors, and an excellent personal statement.
