Meredith Si Snieckus G’21, G’25 joins Syracuse University School of Education as Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor of Counseling. She begins her appointment in fall 2025. A National Certified Counselor and Licensed Mental Health Counselor, while studying for her Ph.D. in Counseling and Counselor Education, Snieckus has served as a Teaching Assistant and Instructor at Syracuse University, teaching Career Counseling and Group Work, among other classes.

Snieckus’ research interests include motivation and self-determination; feminism; fear, trauma, and resilience; mind-body connection; eating disorders; and parenting and education. She defended her Ph.D. thesis—”Exploring the Mediating Role of Autonomous Motivation Between Basic Psychological Needs and Burnout among Counselors-in-Training”—in June 2025.

Snieckus is a member of The Health and Resilience Interdisciplinary collaboratiVE (Lab THRIVE), which explores collegiate mental health using a wide range of research methods. As a member of the team, she has published “An Integrated Health Care Model in a College Setting: A Pilot Path Analysis” in the Journal of College Student Psychotherapy (2024). With co-authors, she also has published “Work-Family Enrichment Among School Counselors: The Roles of Coping and Transformational Leadership” in Professional School Counseling (2025).

As a professional counselor, Snieckus has served Cayuga Counseling Services (Auburn, NY); Helio Health (Syracuse, US); and The Barnes Center at The Arch (Syracuse University). Previously, she served as a president of the Sigma Upsilon chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, the international honor society for counseling students. She is also a member of the American Counseling Association, Association of Counselor Education and Supervision, and North Atlantic Region Association for Counselor Education and Supervision.

In her native China, Snieckus earned a Bachelor of Medicine in Oral Medicine from Sun Yat-sen University (Guangzhou) in 2019, before taking her master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Syracuse University (2021). Her doctorate in Counseling and Counselor Education is anticipated in August 2025.
