School of Education Convocation is a ceremony during Syracuse University Commencement Weekend for School of Education and School of Social Work graduates from any program, including bachelor’s, master’s, CAS, doctoral, and InclusiveU.
You can find the most recent information on 2026 Commencement Weekend activities on the Syracuse University Commencement website.
Students who plan to complete their program by August 2026 (April 2026 for doctoral) are invited to participate in the 2026 Commencement Weekend activities. Students must complete the “File Diploma Request” on MySlice (deadline March 1) to start the process of certifying and awarding a degree, and ensure that they know and fulfill all degree requirements for graduation.
Participation in Convocation and Commencement ceremonies does not indicate that degree requirements have been completed. Under special circumstance, students who do not meet this requirement may petition the School of Education for permission to participate. For questions regarding eligibility in the School of Education, please contact your advisor in the Office of Academic and Student Services.
All degree candidates participating in Convocation and Commencement are required to wear academic regalia (caps and gowns). The Syracuse University Campus Store coordinates cap and gown distribution. Other items like commemorative stoles, diploma frames, souvenir accessories, and gifts are also available for purchase. Regalia will be available at the Campus Store through Commencement Weekend.

Syracuse University Commencement is the all-University graduation ceremony and will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at 9:30 a.m.; graduates should arrive by 8 a.m. Commencement rehearsal is on Thursday, May 7 at Noon.
All graduating students must register to participate in the 2026 Commencement ceremony including an estimated number of guests. There is no limit to the number of guests per graduate. Note that this registration is for Commencement only; registration is not required for SOE Convocation. Registration should be done by the participating student, not their family or guests.
