Teaching Art as a Tool for Transformation

Sharif Bey, professor of art education in the School of Education and the College of Visual and Performing Arts, spoke to Syracuse University Magazine about how art changed his life, and how he now uses it to shape the lives of his students and communities.

Most recently, Bey’s work was on display in “Disrupting Craft: Renwick Invitational 2018” at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C. Bey also received the Judith Greenberg Seinfeld Scholar award in recognition of his outstanding work as an artist, scholar and teacher.
