Coronavirus Help Line:
The spring 2021 semester will use an accelerated academic calendar from February 8-May 21 to allow for a delayed semester start and removal of spring break to limit student travel. Starting our semester two weeks later best positions us to resume residential instruction in a manner that safeguards the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and the Central New York community. Classes will use a variety of formats including in-person, hybrid, synchronous online, and asynchronous online learning.
Campus services and programs such as CLASS (tutoring), Libraries, the Barnes Center, and Student Activities will still be available; however their hours and procedures may vary based on health guidelines. Please contact each office for specific information.
The School of Education is limiting our participation in in-person student teaching and other field placements. Faculty and program coordinators will be in touch about expectations for students with placements, and alternatives that continue to exceed NY State Education Department requirements.
The School of Education is working tirelessly to prepare our classes and facilities a safe, engaging, and flexible semester. Our buildings and classrooms have been adapted to allow for socially distanced seating, sanitizing equipment, hand sanitizer throughout hallways and common spaces, signage to assist in distancing and provide reminders, and increased air circulation and purification. More information on campus health procedures and guidelines is available on the University Stay Safe page.
All employees that can work remotely will be working from home until further notice. This means that physical School of Education offices will be closed. However, all faculty and staff are still working, and can be contacted by email. You can also find contact information by department. Students can set up phone or video appointments with their advisors by on the Academic and Student Services staffing page.
All buildings will be locked until the start of spring 2021 classes; SUID swipe access will be available for faculty and staff only.
We would like nothing more than to welcome you to campus or travel to your area. However, following New York State recommendations related to large gatherings and in an abundance of care for your family and ours, we have made the decision to suspend all campus visits, student-led tours and admissions programming. We understand that this cancellation is disruptive and disappointing. You can contact our undergraduate or graduate admissions staff to learn more about upcoming virtual events or schedule a phone or video call.
Prospective students can take a virtual tour of Syracuse University and find upcoming virtual events.
