Samba Laranja to perform at Jazz at Lincoln Center for 2014 Brazilian Festival

Samba Laranja: the Syracuse University Brazilian ensemble will perform for a fourth time at Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) in New York City. As part of the 2014 JALC Brazilian music festival Samba Laranja will perform on October 24 & 25 in The Atrium and trade sets with Crescent City Samba, the SpokFrevo Orquestra, and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra under the direction of Wynton Marsalis with special guest acclaimed Brazilian percussionist Cyro Baptista.

Samba Laranja is directed by Joshua Dekaney and Dr. Elisa Dekaney and consists of undergraduate and graduate students from a wide variety of studies from Syracuse University & SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry. The group will perform folk and popular music from Brazil including batucada, samba reggae, maracatu, indigenous music, choro, and capoeira.
