otto's fall reading kickoff school of education visions credit unionThe Syracuse University School of Education, Syracuse Athletics, and Visions Federal Credit Union want to say THANK YOU for supporting the future of education! We've partnered with Otto the Orange for his Fall Reading Kickoff to contribute to your students' love of reading (and the Syracuse Orange).

Fall 2021 Kickoff: September 27-November 27

By reading just a few minutes a day your students, their families, and other teachers at your school will receive great rewards and special access to see Syracuse Orange football in action! Teachers, administrators, and other educators and staff can sign up your classroom, a grade level, or your whole school to participate.

When your students participate in Otto’s Fall Reading Kickoff, your school or classroom will receive:

  • Otto's Reading Kickoff bookmarks mailed to your classroom.
  • Complimentary tickets for participating students (1 ticket each) and educators (2 tickets each) to the Syracuse Orange v. Pittsburgh football game on November 27, and the chance to purchase. $10 discounted tickets for other guests (ordering information will be sent to participants).
  • Special recognition for participants throughout the game on November 27, and a group photo on the field after the game.

How to Participate:

  1. Sign up for Otto's Fall Reading Kickoff below.
  2. Download and print football reading logs to help you and your students track progress. You set the goals for your own classroom—the key is participation! Download: English | Spanish | Dual Language
  3. Share your classroom’s progress by posting photos and updates to Twitter or Instagram using #OttoReads and tagging @SUSchoolofEd, or email suschoolofed@syr.edu so we can tell Otto how you’re doing.

Otto loves visiting a few schools who participate in his Reading Kickoff. With changing public health conditions this year, do you think it could be feasible for Otto to visit your school/class in December?*
Otto would bring along 2-3 helpers. Arrangements can be made for Otto to visit classrooms, a large space like a gym or cafeteria, outdoors, or another setting as needed. This is not a guarantee or commitment to an Otto visit; potential participants will be contacted individually.
This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
