Clinical Mental Health Counseling program receives top ranking

The School of Education’s Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program has been rated #1 across the nation based on student reviews. On this list of top graduate programs, SU’s MS Clinical Mental Health Counseling program was given an overall score of 9.39; comprised of ratings across 15 categories that cover a variety of student topics such as academic competitiveness, career support, financial aid, and quality of network.

Housed under the Counseling and Human Services department, the M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is a 60-credit program that prepares students for employment in a variety of human service venues including community mental health counseling, counseling people with disabilities, career counseling, substance abuse services, counseling with youth, crisis counseling, and counseling persons who have experienced domestic violence.

Professor Melissa Luke, Coordinator of School Counseling, and Interim Coordinator of Student Affairs Counseling says, “I think this is a testament to the dedication and commitment of excellent faculty, program coordination, and exemplary leadership at the department and college level.”

This current ranking of the MS in Clinical Mental Health is consistent with the revere of Syracuse University’s Counseling and Human Services Department more broadly, which has been recognized for its rigor, extensive fieldwork opportunities for students and contributions to the field. The department received the 2013 National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) Professional Identity Award; a national recognition that signifies the faculty’s excellence in and commitment to promoting counselor professional identity.
