The minor in Exercise Science gives students a background in human performance, metabolic and muscular systems, and exercise testing protocols.
This minor in the Department of Exercise Science prepares students for certifications in strength and personal/corporate fitness, or graduate studies in applied exercise, exercise science or physiology, kinesiology, and physical therapy. Students will have the opportunity to specialize in 2 or more advanced areas of focus within exercise science and human performance.
The Exercise Science minor requires 18 credits, including 2 required courses and 4 electives. Please note that both Anatomy and Physiology I & II are prerequisites for many courses in the minor. Classes include introductions to exercise science, human motion, athletic injuries, worksite health, aging, pathophysiology, obesity and body composition, cardiac rehabilitation, conditioning, and exercise testing. If you are interesting in declaring a minor, talk to your advisor in your home school or college to see if you have enough room for the courses, a minimum of a 2.5 GPA, and complete the Minor Declaration Form.
