Admissions Deadline: January 15 (for fall semester start). Applicants should ensure that all of the required materials are submitted by that date.

Admissions Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree in a counseling field.
  • Cumulative undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.0.
  • Official transcript of all undergraduate and graduate study.
  • Supplemental department Master’s degree application, sent directly to chsinfo@syr.edu as an attachment.
  • A personal statement which defines the applicant’s motivation to seek graduate study and future career ambitions.
  • 3 letters of recommendation (including at least 2 academic references) that can speak to the applicant’s academic potential and personal qualifications.
  • Resume or CV.
  • International students: TOEFL Scores, written test 600, computerized test 250, iBT test 100, or IELTS 7.0.
  • Arrangements for personal interviews will be made after all other application materials are received.
