We bleed orange and want to help Orange families continue their legacy! The SOE Orange Family Scholarship program will offer funding covering 25% of the cost of eligible School of Education Master’s degree tuition to children of Syracuse University faculty and staff members.

Parent Eligibility

  • A parent must be employed as a full-time faculty or staff member of Syracuse University during the period of their child’s application, admission, matriculation and enrollment in a School of Education master’s degree program.
  • The scholarship is only applicable while the parent is employed at Syracuse University, and will be revoked if the parent terminates their Syracuse University employment while the student is still enrolled.

Child/Student Eligibility

  • Student applicants must have graduated from their undergraduate degree program within the past five years.
  • Students must be formally admitted and newly matriculated into an eligible School of Education Master’s degree program and maintain academic standards, including earning and maintaining a 3.0 GPA by the end of the second semester.
  • Students must be enrolled full-time (9 credits in the fall or spring, or 6 credits in summer).
  • Only eligible School of Education master’s degree programs qualify for the scholarship; certificate of advanced study (C.A.S.) and doctoral (Ed.D. and Ph.D.) degree programs are not eligible.

This scholarship is also not available to students receiving SU employee/spouse/partner remitted tuition benefits.
  • Students who matriculate into the Early Childhood Special Education M.S., School Counseling M.S., or Clinical Mental Health Counseling M.S. beginning in summer 2019 are not eligible for the High Needs Area scholarship because of program-specific funding.

Additional Details

  • The scholarship is offered to eligible students in their admission packet from the Graduate School. Students who submit their acceptance are automatically credited 25% of their tuition each semester of full-time study to their student bursar account.
  • The value of the SOE Orange Family Scholarship is calculated based on the tuition for the total number of credit hours for which the student is registered minus the value of any outside scholarships/funding. The remaining tuition bill for which the student is responsible is then credited 25% of the student’s tuition.
  • The scholarship does not cover tuition for undergraduate courses even if required as a prerequisite condition of full admission into the master’s program.
