The Sharon Haines Jacquet Education Commons at the School of Education can fit seating for up to 80 people with a classroom style setup. The space will accommodate seating for approximately 50 people for a formal sit down style event with tables. Campus Catering can answer any questions regarding dinner for receptions.
Permission to use the space does not imply that the School of Education will coordinate the event. Department(s) sponsoring the event are responsible for set-up and removal of furnishings and equipment, custodial clean-up and returning existing furniture to its original location at the close of the event. Submit appropriate requisitions to University service providers (North Zone, Catering, etc.) or Purchasing if using a private company. However, event sponsors assume responsibility for the cost to repair/replace lost or damaged University property and for damage to the facility and its environs.
An image of the standard commons layout is available for view and print by clicking here. Please use this layout as a guide to returning the existing furniture to its original location at the close of your event.
Use of the commons for events that will include alcohol must adhere to Catering Services and Syracuse University's alcohol policies. Please note that Catering Services requires 30 business days' notice for all events requiring alcoholic beverage service to obtain a temporary permit from the NYS Liquor Authority. Before submitting this form for an event that will include alcohol, please review Catering Services Policies and the Syracuse University Policy on Alcohol, Other Drugs, and Tobacco.
Please complete the form below to request use of the Commons. All form fields are required. You will receive a response within two (2) business days - if you do not hear from us, please email Lucianna Diaz.
