OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The post-season awards continue to roll in for recent graduate Jenna Caira of the SU softball team. Caira was named a 2012 Easton Fastpitch Second Team All-American on Monday afternoon.
Caira, the most decorated pitcher in SU history, has already been named an NFCA Third Team All-American and was a First Team All-Great Lakes Region selection. She is the only student-athlete from the BIG EAST named to the Easton Fastpitch All-America list.
The all-time BIG EAST leader in career strikeouts, Caira pitched to an overall record of 27-9 in 2012 and led the Orange to its deepest post-season run in program history, reaching the NCAA Regional Finals. Caira boasted an ERA of 1.60 in 44 appearances.
Of the six no-hitters in SU’s history, Caira owns four of them, including two of which came this season. Her first was against Rutgers on April 22nd, and her final one came against No. 16 USF on Senior Day, May 6th.
