SOE Peer Advisors

Calling all SOE freshmen, sophomores, and juniors!
Peer Advisors are volunteer students who represent the School of Education in a variety of ways.
These include:

Mentoring new freshmen and transfer student advisees, beginning in the summer and continuing throughout the school year

Assisting with SOE Orientation during Welcome Weekend 2018
-
Representing SOE at recruitment and admissions events
-
Being involved in various SOE receptions, events, and programs that occur throughout the academic school year
Requirements and responsibilities:
-
On-campus responsibilities begin Friday, August 24, 2018, with some obligations through the weekend
-
Must be willing to communicate with advisees in the summer prior to Orientation (email, phone, etc.)

Must continue to be a resource for advisees throughout the semester/year, during their first year at SU
-
Must attend one 1-hr training session in April 2018 (dates to be announced)

3.0 GPA and in good academic standing
-
Be on campus for at least the fall 2018 semester (students can be abroad for spring 2019)
Interested? The application for the 2019-2020 season will be available in Spring 2019.
Returning Peer Advisors also have the opportunity to be on the Peer Advisor Leadership Team.
As a PA Team Leader, you will still have a group of freshmen advisees, as well as additional leadership responsibilities including:

Assist with Peer Advisor training (to take place in late March or early April)

Lead your team of Peer Advisors through various Welcome Week orientation tasks

Serve as a resource for new Peer Advisors throughout the academic year

Additional leadership opportunities during SOE recruitment and admissions events
