Say Yes to Education

Say Yes Syracuse is the local chapter of Say Yes to Education, Inc., a national, non-profit education foundation committed to dramatically increasing high school and college graduation rates for our nation's urban youth. Syracuse's local chapter was nationally recognized in 2009 with a visit from the White House Task Force on Middle Class Families, which included appearances by leaders in the field of higher education, Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, and Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner.

Say Yes to Education provides comprehensive supports, including the promise of free or partial college tuition to one of many colleges and universities for students that meet residency, graduation  and admission requirements.

The Say Yes promise begins when a child enters kindergarten and continues through high school and beyond. The range of services Say Yes offers include after-school and summer programming, mentoring, tutoring, and school-day academic support, family outreach, scholarships, social work and psychological services. Additionally, Say Yes partners to provide high-quality health care and legal assistance. These services help to create a positive, sustaining framework for each student's academic experience and one that encourages and rewards continued effort.
