Valuing Lives: Wolf Wolfensberger and the Principle of Normalization

April 28, 1-4:30 p.m.
Crowne Plaza Hotel, 701 E Genesee St, Syracuse

An event for families, self-advocates, providers, students, anyone who recognizes the value of persons labeled with a developmental disability.

“Valuing Lives: Wolf Wolfensberger and the Principle of Normalization,” is a historical documentary exploring an idea that forever changed human services.  The 56-minute film will provide a starting point for discussion. By remembering our history and the values we were rooted in, we hope to begin a dialogue concerning our current situation.  The goal of the day begins with a desire to listen. We hope to listen to each other in order to define our present-day concerns and possible strategies. We hope to engender a collaborative will and effort so that the gifts of people are valued and the needs are addressed. We hope to leave with a sense of empowerment.
