English Education

Students in the English Education program pursue a program of study that combines the liberal arts core, a liberal arts major (English and Textual Studies), and education courses.

If you are entering Syracuse University with no college credit, a typical fall schedule might include:

·     A 100-level ETS course

·     A natural science

·     A social science

·     A foreign language or mathematics course

·     WRT 105, or the alternative CAS 100 (consult iPlan for information)

·     First-year Forum in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS 101)

·     First-year Forum in the School of Education (EDU 101)

For a sample of ETS, natural science and social science courses, please visit the Liberal Arts and Sciences guidebook.

English Education students take their first education course, EDU 204, Principles of Learning in Inclusive Classrooms, in the spring of their freshman year.  As part of this course, they also complete 25 hours of fieldwork in a middle or high school classroom.
