Mathematics Education
Graduate Program
The Teaching and Leadership Program in the School of Education, in cooperation with the Department of Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences, offer two graduate programs in mathematics education.
Foundational strengths of the mathematics education programs at Syracuse University are that the programs are sponsored by both the Department of Mathematics and the School of Education, and are field based. Course work in the mathematics education programs provide students with extensive study in both the Department of Mathematics and the School of Education. Additionally, in the mathematics education programs theory informs practice and practice transforms theory. This field-based approach is accomplished through focused partnerships with urban schools, the Academy of Mathematics Educators, and the Professional Development School. Students have the opportunities to work in inclusive settings, and gain experience and critically examine innovative and appropriate technology tools for teaching and learning mathematics.
