Advances in science and technology have revolutionized the way people live. Science teachers from Syracuse University rise to the challenge of helping students learn the processes, skills and body of scientific knowledge necessary to excel in the increasingly technological world. At Syracuse University, science education students are prepared to bring the most recent scientific developments to the classroom, working closely with faculty to build on the knowledge, skills and values they need to become leading educators.
The Science Education program offers students four specific programs from which to choose their field of study: science education/biology, science education/chemistry, science education/earth science, science education/physics. Students have the opportunity to enhance their studies through participation in programs as the Frontiers in Science lecture series and weekly high school enrichment workshops, along with the option to pursue certification in a second science area.
The Science Education program bridges the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Education, allowing students to earn a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in science education.
