What do I need to apply?

  • Graduate teacher preparation and school leadership candidates must submit:
    • Competitive scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Miller Analogy Test (MAT), or other acceptable, nationally normed admissions examination.
    • Cumulative undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.0.
    • Personal essay demonstrating candidates’ beliefs about student learning, commitment to diversity, enthusiasm for learning, willingness to foster collaboration, and ethics.
  • Official transcripts from previous academic institutions.
  • 3 letters of recommendation (preferably from faculty).
  • Experience working with young people in formal or informal capacities preferred.
  • Interview (optional but encouraged).

This program requires:

A major in biology, chemistry, earth sciences OR physics; OR by the end of the master's degree program, a minimum of 30 semester hour credits in the science area in which certification is sought. For more detailed information, please see the "courses" page on this website.

What is the application deadline?

Applications are considered on a rolling basis but applications are considered for summer start only. The program is one year.

Those who wish to apply for a School of Education Scholarship should apply by January 15 for the following fall semester. School of Education scholarship questions should be directed to Angela Flanagan at 315-443-4754.
