Admissions and Scholarships

Applicants are still being considered for the fall 2019 semester - apply TODAY!

Successful applicants should have:

  • A undergraduate baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university
  • At least a 3.0 undergraduate grade point average
  • Some relevant work experience

Application materials and requirements:

  • General application for admission to graduate study at Syracuse University.
  • CHS Department Supplemental Application for admission, sent directly to as an attachment.
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) scores no older than 10 years.
  • Three letters of recommendation from persons who can speak to the applicant's academic potential and to their personal qualifications for graduate study in counseling.  At least 2 of your references must be Academic references.
  • Transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate study.
  • A personal statement which defines the applicant's motivation to seek graduate study and future career ambitions.
  • International students require TOEFL Scores: written test 600, computerized test 250, iBT test 100, or IELTS 7.0 are a requirement that will not be waived.

Applications are reviewed by the admissions committee to evaluate readiness for graduate level work and the match between your interests and our programs.  If you pass the “paper” review you will be offered a interview. Applicants will be notified of admissions within a few weeks of their interview, but the length of the process after each deadline will vary.
