Certificate Programs

These short certificate programs are designed to provide foundational knowledge and competence to those professionals not necessarily interested in a Master's degree. A detailed description for each program can be found in the IDD&E Student Handbook (.pdf).

Why pursue a certificate from IDD&E?

If you are a professional practitioner with an interest in continuing professional education but have no current interest in an advanced degree. However, these credits will transfer should you decide to continue on to a Master's degree.

FULLY ONLINE Certificate in Designing Digital Instruction - 15 credits + portfolio

This certificate provides professionals with the opportunity to advance their knowledge and skills in the area of instructional design and learning with digital technologiesA growing population of professionals in business and industry, higher education, non-profits and social services organizations, government and military, healthcare and insurance, media, and other contexts find themselves in positions related to training and professional development, yet have little knowledge about how to design effective and efficient instruction, especially instruction that takes advantage of the affordances of digital technologies.

Certificate in Instructional Design Foundations - 12 credits

Professionals may advance their knowledge and skills in the area of instructional design and learning.  Students completing this certificate program will have acquired a foundational knowledge of instructional design which will help them begin developing competencies to design effective and efficient instruction, whether the context is business and industry, higher education, non-profits and social services organizations, government and military, healthcare and insurance, or media.

Certificate in Educational Technology - 15 credits

Teachers, trainers and other professional practitioners may advance their knowledge and skills in the area of instructional systems, learning environments and performance technology. This certificate program addresses most of the core competencies involved in a variety of educational technology positions, including professional trainers, training managers, instructional designers, and technology coordinators.
