What are your research interests? Why?
I am interested in public education, specifically schools labeled "low-performing" and/or "failing" by the state education department and the federal government. I am currently writing my Master's thesis on culture and community within failing schools.

Why did you choose Syracuse University?
As a lifelong Syracuse resident, it has always been a dream of mine to obtain a degree from Syracuse University. The School of Education is extremely progressive and has helped me grow as an educator. I am able to introduce graduate-level concepts into my classroom seamlessly. The University is supportive, engaging and always exploring new avenues to extend their tremendous resources and expertise.

What other professional, TA, GA, or community activities are you involved in?
I am a Secondary English teacher at a Syracuse City High School. I am currently partnered with Professor Stephen Mahan in the College of Visual and Performing Arts and the Photo and Literacy (PAL) Project, a program that incorporates creative writing and photography in the city schools.
